FAQ

How do I join the MWPC?

You can sign up at "Join" and you will immediately be placed on the MWPC mailing list. Membership in the MWPC also entitles you to membership in the National Women’s Political Caucus.

Do I need to be a Democrat or Republican?

The MWPC is a non-partisan organization. Members come from all parties including Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and others.

What does it cost?

$65 a year for a general membership. There is also a student/low-resource membership available for $25 per year.

Aren’t women already getting elected to office?

Women make up only 26% of the State Legislature in Massachusetts, but they compose 52% of the statewide population. There has never been a female United States Senator representing Massachusetts in Washington D.C. and there have been only three Congresswomen.

Why should women vote for women candidates?

In 2002 the Center for Women’s American Politics and Public Policy (CAWPP) released a study that demonstrated that women legislators, regardless of party, spend more of their efforts and time advocating for issues that are important to women. These include women’s health, affordable and accessible day care, domestic violence and sexual harassment, and issues pertaining to the well-being of children.
